“Just a small town girl
Livin’ in a lonely world
She took the midnight train
Goin’ anywhere”
But really, it was a plane – and it took me to Cambodia. And while this world can be lonely, I have some awesome friends and family who make it less so, and a God that is always with me.
Let’s go back to the beginning, shall we? Well not all the way, we will hit the highlights.
First of all, I am a twin. I forget that sometimes people don’t know that because we have done life together for the most part – obviously.
I grew up with this guy, Pete, in Muleshoe, TX (i.e. the small-town part).
My sister and I then traveled all of 60ish miles to attend university in Plainview, TX, another small-ish town.
I spent 6 years studying at Wayland Baptist Univ where I received a BBA and an MBA in International Management. While receiving my MBA, I worked in the Financial Aid office.
In July of 2014, I went on a little thing called the World Race. This was my family for 11 months while we traveled to 11 countries doing ministry as we went.
G-squad at final debrief in Managua, Nicaragua.
After coming home from the Race, I stayed in the Panhandle area for a little bit before joining the Fellowship program with Adventures in Missions in Gainesville, GA.
In Georgia, I worked with the Logistics in the office. These are the people that plan ALL trips through Adventures (Passport, Gap Year, World Race, Short Term). They develop relationships with hosts, negotiate prices, and so much more!
It was while I was in Georgia, I learned of Adventures’ plan to do ‘business as missions’ through opening a guesthouse in Siem Reap, Cambodia. It has been a long journey that God has brought me on, through many ups and downs. I am excited to start this new adventure in Cambodia where I hope to use my educational background and my love of working with other cultures through supervising operations at the Guesthouse. While I am pretty awkward, sometimes shy and introverted, I know and trust God will use me – wherever I am.
So, that is pretty much me in a nutshell.
