Some of you (who follow me on Instagram and Facebook) may have seen a few dinosaur pictures in the last week or so. It started with this one:

Someone (I am assuming a young child) left his (or her) dinosaurs at the Brew over the weekend. I turned around while working at one point and this dinosaur was at the door of the kitchen. So I took him from my co-worker and finished my tasks.

Mondays can be hard, especially when you are up around 5 am and haven’t had coffee yet, so I played around with this guy and captioned the picture, “Even T-Rex needs coffee on Mondays…”. I thought I was hilarious. With my coffee-deprived brain I planned out a whole “T-Rex in the morning” series and was super excited to go to work the next day. (Again, when you have to be at work early, before the coffee is ready, it really is the little things that help you get out of bed.)

Tuesday, I arrived at work early and started my tasks. When the baked goods were in the oven, my search for T-Rex started. I had kind of hidden him the day before because some of my co-workers like to play tricks on me (you know who you are if you are reading this). I wasn’t too bothered when T-Rex wasn’t where I left him – maybe he was moved. So I searched the kitchen, but he was not to be found. I went up to the front and asked if anyone had seen the dinosaurs, but no one had. I had to give up my search to actually work, but T-Rex and my awesome Tuesday post was still on my mind. Sometime during lunch, my coworkers and I figured that the owner had come to claim T-Rex and the other dinosaur. I was seriously bummed.

I do understand that I am coming up on 30 very quickly and I shouldn’t be upset about a kids’ toy. There are other things in life to worry about. I know. I worry about those other things. But T-Rex was a huge bright spot in my day and I was sad when he left. My friends laughed about me being bummed. I laughed about it, too, but the fact still stood: I missed T-Rex.

(I was probably not as bummed as this dinosaur…)

The last few weeks have been a little rough. But God sees us in the good and bad. He is with us through the whole journey, even when we feel like He is far away.

On Wednesday, someone left something for me. I went back to see what it was…and I had a dinosaur!!! He was all mine!

I have never had a dinosaur before and I was SO EXCITED!!!! He had a sweet red bow and I named him Teddy.

Despite the past few weeks of sadness from not being with my team in Cambodia and just not being where I thought I would be in my life, God has shown up. I know He is always there in my head, but that knowledge doesn’t always make it to my heart. It has been the little rays of sunshine that get me through the day: seeing a friend I haven’t seen in awhile, a funny instagram post, a free drink, someone to watch a show with, and yes…even a dinosaur.

While this post may seem silly to some, it is a reminder to me: God cares for the little things in our lives.

God loves dinosaurs and God loves ME!

  1. God is always here but sometimes we have a hard time feeling His presence or hearing His voice. So glad He never leaves us.
