Turning 30, is a BIG deal. I know I am not OLD yet, or at least that is what I keep telling myself. Most of the time, I don’t feel old; however it has made me think a lot and reflect on the past 30 years. So much has happened in the last three decades (in no specific order):
– 4 U.S. Presidents have been elected
– Prince William married Kate
– War on Terrorism
– Nelson Mandela was freed from prison, became president, and passed away
– the INTERNET
– Social Media
– Selfies
– EVERYTHING can be found online
– Personal computers (laptops, tablets, etc)
– Cellphones
– Harry Potter
– Berlin Wall coming down
– and so much more.
With the expansion of the internet, things have progressed quickly and connected people all over the world.

A lot has happened in my life as well:
– I was born 😉
– Graduated high school & college (twice)
– Traveled to over 15 countries
– Discovered a love for missions and people
– Loved and lost loved ones
– Traveled to most of the U.S
– Moved to Georgia for the Fellowship
– and moved back to Texas
Looking at this list doesn’t look like much, but life is filled with memories. Memories of time with my friends in high school when we all finally had our own cars, hanging out on the ‘cool’ side at Sonic, graduation day where we said ‘good-bye’ to a era of our lives, moving to Plainview to being Wayland Baptist University, Koinonia, meeting new friends, working around town, being mistaken for Ashley (by people that didn’t know we were twins,) traveling abroad for the first time to Africa, traveling abroad with my sister for the first time, graduation day at WBU, late night runs to Starbucks in Lubbock, making the decision to work at WBU, continuing my MBA at Wayland, hearing the call to long-term missions, saying ‘yes’ to the World Race, meeting 40 new member of my family at a campground in Georgia, traveling the world, meeting people who made lasting impacts of my life, seeing my sister marry the man she loves, meeting my ‘nieces’ for the first time, White Sox Opening day, moving to Georgia and back, and so much more.

Happy Birthday youngun, you’ve had three and I have lived twice plus that, so I feel like I owe young missionaries an apology for the way things has turned out based on 11 Chronicles 7:14. I am not proud of how we have left God’s word to create our own righteousness but happy that were get another chance! Men ought always pray and not faint ????????.
